LAFO Criteria for Issuing Permits

Production companies wishing to film in Chapman Woods must obtain a permit from the LAFO.

Duration and frequency of recent filming at the location
Proximity of concurrent filming activities
Historical use and recent problems or complaints
Number of filming days requested and company size
Proposed activities (excessive noise, cranes, etc.)

Notification
Using the approved notification form (a bright red door hanger), the LAFO must notify affected residents at least two days in advance of the first day of filming or substantial set preparation. Production companies are required to contact the Association filming representative at least two working days in advance of the first day of filming or substantial set preparation. The Chapman Woods Association is an advisory body representing the concerns of residents and has no authority to approve filming activities or impose filming guidelines.
Hours of Filming
Arrival before 7:00 am and departure after 10:00 pm are prohibited. An extension of the filming hours requires that affected residents be surveyed to identify concerns, and the approved date, hours and activities must be specifically indicated on the permit. Additional consideration is given to residents in close proximity to the filming. Weekend and holiday filming is generally prohibited, unless approved by LAFO.
Revenue
The Association asks production companies to donate $300 per day of actual filming and $150 per prep and strike day. This income subsidizes Association publications, activities, and landscaping.
Parking
Cast and crew may not park personal vehicles on area streets. The production company must shuttle cast and crew to and from off-site parking. Parking of production vehicles and equipment is limited to one side of the street. These vehicles may not interfere with gardener’s activities, trash pick up, safe use of the streets or access to driveways, unless approved by the affected residents. Craft services, catering trucks, food preparation and dining tables are prohibited on sidewalks or parkways and must be out of public view. Generator(s) with the proper noise shield may be parked only in front of the location house, or in front of houses that have approved this activity. For extended periods of filming, the Association encourages the production company to park large equipment and vehicles outside of the Woods.
